West Siang KVK team visits farmers’ field
ITANAGAR, Jan 16: A team of KVK, Basar, West Siang led by A. Kirankumar Singh, SMS (Agronomy) visited the different farmers’ field, who have been involved under different demonstration, frontline demonstration programmes of the KVK under ATMA and TSP programmes of ICAR Basar yesterday.

Four houses gutted in fire

DAPORIJO, Jan 16: A massive fire broke out in two different places yesterday and gutted four houses causing loss of properties worth crores of rupees at Super Market and Medical Colony, Daporijo.
Many local ornaments and other immovable properties were damaged in both the accidents. The fire damaged RCC buildings and kutcha houses.
Reportedly, the fire at medical colony was caused by a short circuit while the cause of fire at Super Market is yet to be ascertained.
The owner of the house at Super market has lodged a complaint with police against a suspect, who might have intentionally caused the fire and appealed the police to investigate the matter immediately.

Wild meat up for sale at Daporijo market

DAPORIJO, Jan 16: Wild animals are in extreme danger in Upper Subansiri as endangered animal species like porcupines, squirrel, flying squirrels, deer, pheasant and many other wild animals are being sold in open market in Daporijo. Even State Bird Hornbill has not been spared from their cruelty.
The school going children come over here to watch the different kinds of rare animals which are often seen only in some TV channels.
High demand of wild meat resulted in large scale selling of such meat in the markets here.
These wild animals are brought from different villages of the district by hunters and are being sold in the market to the ‘main’ meat sellers in high rate. There is an open competition among the meat sellers to collect wild animals from the “main seller” when it is brought from the village by hunters. Some sellers even go to village personally and buy the meat there in gross. Later, these wild meats are sold in higher rate in the Daily Bazaar.
There is no fixed rate for such wild meat. Rates vary on the basis of the animals’ type, size and demand.
This wild animal meat is also offered to officers and other public leaders as a gift to please them and get their works done. Offering of wild meant has become a trend here, it is generally practiced during the March ending to please their bosses.
Many meat sellers and villagers without hesitation say they earn their livelihood from this profession.

ITANAGAR, Jan 16: MLA and Adviser to Chief Minister Tako Dabii has vehemently condemned the recent Aalo incident and said that such incidents are against our (tribal) culture and ethics.
Dabii in a release said that formation of various associations, unions or organizations in the name of student or students’ organization by some persons, who are not student in real term, is signaling impending danger to the civil and rural society. Only students, who are in schools, colleges and universities should be there in such student unions, Dabii said while drawing the attention of the State Government towards the serious issue.
Dabii also blamed the intelligence failure for the Aalo incident and criticized the administration’s ‘inactiveness’ in tackling the situation “in that point of time”.
Dabii suggested the government to reconsider the system of promotion, posting and transfer of all Govt. officers and officials of various departments. He said that transfer and posting should not be like that of posting or transferring one from ‘bedroom to kitchen or kitchen to common room’.

ACS demands transparency in recruitment process

Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I, on behalf of the All India DRDA Staff Welfare Association, Arunachal state unit would like to write an open letter to chief minister for needful action.
That sir, you are well aware of the fact that the GoI has continuously been insisting for absorption of DRDA borne employees into the state Govt for last many years and even the Centre had served warning to state Govt stating that it might stop DRDA funding at any moment if the state Govt fails to absorb the DRDA staff. The Central Govt also assured in written that it would continuously bear 90 per cent of salary expenditure of DRDA employees even after absorption of the their service.
Accordingly, the department of RD had moved a proposal for absorption of 561 DRDA employees by creation of similar posts in RD department. There needs no additional fund to be made for absorption of DRDA staff as the salaries etc will be paid from DRDA admin fund already being shared by both Centre and state Govts on 90.10 basis.
The proposal has also been thoroughly examined by respective departments. However, as the file reached to your office in February 2012, it caught with inertia. Finally it is understood that your good office has returned the file to the department of RD on Dec 22, 2012 on the pretext of austerity measures enforced in the state.
That sir, the DRDA staffs find it utterly disgusting over the way the file has been
returned. Our grievances are that the file had been lying with your office for about
six months before the austerity measures were imposed and therefore, the matter could
have been disposed of during that interim period. Secondly, creation of posts/appointments/promotion
etc has continually been carried out amidst the ongoing austerity measures and as
such, the said proposal could have been disposed off provided that a little wisdom
has been there with your government. Thirdly, the on-

Obey traffic rules
Dear Editor,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to request the common people of the state, particularly the vehicle users and bike riders on the road to take some precautionary measures and obey traffic rules while driving vehicles/ riding bikes for safety and security.
Please don’t mix driving with drinking and don’t use mobile phone while driving. Consumption of alcohol and use of mobile phone is punishable offence. Always use seat belt and wear ISI marked helmet while driving vehicle/ motorbike.
Last but not the least, the road users must follow traffic rules to avoid road accidents.
